Ian trained as an acupuncturist in 2007 and, after advanced fertility training with Zita West, built a largely fertility-focused practice. Supporting hundreds of women, he saw how few men came for treatment or found support of their own, and in 2020 he and Toby set up the first online support group for men facing fertility issues. In 2023, after 16 years in practice, he left acupuncture to focus fully on testhim.
Toby knows the patient side first-hand. After a 'normal' semen analysis, he went through two rounds of IVF over six years, and has been open about the toll it took on his mental health. He turned to motorsport as a release, launching his Racing for Fertility campaign with Fertility Network UK to break the stigma around infertility, and with Ian founded the first online support group for men through FNUK. Further investigations eventually identified the underlying problem; with the right treatment he and his partner conceived naturally and now have a son, Ollie. He remains an advocate for male fertility and mental health alongside his work with testhim.
